Best Buy is laying off about 700 employees, or roughly 0.7 percent of its workforce, said reports.
A Best Buy Canada spokesperson, Anna LeGresley, announced the layoffs, reported Financial Post. It remains unclear if the layoffs are in both Canada and the US. It is also uncertain if the layoffs include corporate staff as well as retail workers.
Best Buy has approximately 105,000 employees in North America with 55 percent of its workforce being full time employees, 35 percent part time and 10 percent seasonal employees, reported Global News.
