Kenwood is now shipping in limited quantities a new wired CarPlay/Android Auto deck with full features at a $499 minimum advertised price (MAP).
The new Excelon DMX709S includes Maestro capability to retain factory features, 5 volt preouts, three camera inputs and HD Radio as well as a type D HDMI input.
“This wasn’t a product we were planning to ship so quickly but we air freighted it in a limited quantity as we knew of a void in the market for the feature set,” said Kenwood’s Seth Halstead.
A step up Excelon radio with wireless CarPlay/Android Auto will also ship this year as well as comparable standard Kenwood (non-Excelon) wired and wireless CarPlay/Android Auto versions.
The new mechless (no CD/DVD) DMX709S has a 6.8-inch capacitive screen, USB mirroring for Android, 13 band EQ and digital time alignment, as well as a short chassis.
