Leading Brand Enters Head Unit Market

A leading brand has entered the car audio head unit market, offering three basic radios.

Cerwin Vega Mobile said it met with success selling a selection of radios in the overseas market and so it is bringing several models to the US. It is also foresees offering more radios here in the future, said Bob Chanthanvongsa, VP Sales & Marketing, Diamond Audio/Cerwin-Vega Mobile.

The company is also now shipping a mini, water-resistant 4-inch digital signal processor (see below).

The new radio models include a CV7BM double DIN basic radio with a 7-inch touchscreen.  It has MirrorLink for phone mirroring, Bluetooth, AM/FM, and 1080P HD video. The CV7BM accepts a 64GB SD card and USB devices. It includes Aux, front rear preamp outputs, subwoofer preamp output, video output for auxiliary devices,  rear view camera input, and a steering wheel control option at $109.99.

The CV62BM has a 6.2-inch LCD touch screen with many of the same features as the CV7BM but it has a built-in steering wheel control interface and 16 band DSP at $149.99.

The CV15BT is a single DIN basic model with Bluetooth, USB, SD and Aux inputs and 5 volt preouts at a retail price of $69.99.

Separately, Cerwin Vega is shipping a palm-sized digital signal processor,  measuring 4 x 3 x 1 inches. Users can stream music to the device over Bluetooth. Called the CVDSP65, it is a 6-channel DSP with 15 band parametric EQ and fully adjustable crossovers.  It works with tuning software for phones as well as laptops.  It has a conformal coated circuit board to protect against the elements.  The retail price of the CVDSP65 is $329.99.

An  8-channel version is also in development, said Cerwin Vega.
