Memphis Audio is shipping its first high end pre-loaded enclosures.
The boxes are loaded with higher end woofers at price points the company shied away from until now.
As dealers have been busier since the pandemic, there’s less time to fabricate subwoofer boxes, creating more demand for pre-made enclosures, including higher end enclosures, said Memphis President Nick LoMonaco.
“We were apprehensive about the price point, but as soon as we brought them out, we sold out. We were out of our whole inventory in three days,” he said.
Models include a new MOJO 12-inch, single, loaded subwoofer box with a side ported design. It handles 1500 watts RMS with 83dB sensitivity. The woofer has a 3.5-inch aluminum voice coil and 120 ounce magnet. Street price is $899. It is joined by enclosures loaded with M7 12-inch woofers rated at 750 watt RMS power handling. The single woofer version has a retail price of $499 and the dual version is $899.
Memphis also added direct fit versions of its MOJO mini loaded subwoofer enclosures for Ford and Chevrolet vehicles. They come with M7 Mini woofers and fit 2009 and newer F150 Crew and 2017 and newer F250/F350 Super Duty Crew, and 2007 and newer Silverado and Sierra crew cabs respectively. The enclosures are dual 8” MOJO Mini ported enclosures wired to 1Ω. Both enclosures fit under the seats of the vehicles and both include high excursion grills to protect from accidental damage. Model numbers are MJMEFORD8D1 and MJMECHEV8D1.
