Story correction:  AAMP Global said it will release a new subwoofer interface called AmpPRO SUB under the PAC brand.

While the original AmpPRO is an interface to allow a full aftermarket system to be added to a factory amplified car audio system, AmpPRO SUB is designed for those consumers who simply want to add a monoblock amplifier and a subwoofer to their factory car audio system. It is a scaled down, lower cost interface.

AmpPRO SUB will come with a plug and play harness and a sub-level controller and will work with Ford and Chrysler vehicles with factory-amplified audio systems and with General Motors Bose audio systems and GM non-amplified systems, said AAMP VP Product Development, Infotainment, Audio, Connectivity Kevin Kuenzie.

Like the original AmpPRO, it provides a clean signal from the factory system for easily adding aftermarket components and allows the customer to control volume from his factory radio.

The new interface targets the customer “who likes their factory system but who only wants to add a subwoofer, as well as customers with leased vehicles, since it’s all plug and play; or customers with vehicles where it’s difficult to make replacements to the system…” said Kuenzie.

The AmpPRO SUB will be available in November at a suggested retail price of $179.95.
