Alpine Electronics is adding a second mini amplifier to its PowerStack series designed to “stack” behind Alpine’s popular $299 CarPlay deck. Together the deck plus stacking amp measure the size of a typical double DIN radio.
The new PowerStack amplifier is a 400 watt mono KTA-200M for those who want a subwoofer amplifier. As with the original 4-channel PowerStack mini amp, it mates with the Alpine iLX-650 short chassis radio, or it can be used as a standalone amp.
It uses Alpine’s Dynamic Peak Power (DPP) technology, which doubles the power, from 200 to 400 watts, Alpine claims. “During powerful, or ‘dynamic,’ passages of music, DPP will adapt to the needs of the music by adjusting the gain of the amplifier and delivering bursts of power that match the peak demands of the music,” said Alpine.
New to the KTA-200M, is a voltage adapting input circuit to maintain the maximum source signal level without clipping.
The KTA-200M will ship in March for a suggested $280.
