As the size and fit of new radios continues to evolve, Metra Electronics is one of the first to launch new dash kits designed specifically to fit most of the new shallow mount receivers with 7-inch screens.
Metra’s new 107 Series allows installers to seamlessly replace head units that do not fit standard aftermarket DIN openings.
Metra is also unveiling four new kits specifically for Pioneer’s 8-inch modular radio, DMH-C5500NEX for use in the Jeep Commander, Ford Explorer and Ranger and Chevrolet Camaro.
In total Metra is releasing 25 dash kits at CES. Thirteen new kits on display will ship soon for the Chevrolet Captiva Sport, Ford Transit and Ranger, Dodge Ram, Jeep Commander, Hyundai Elantra and Santa Fe, Mini Cooper, Mercedes E-class and Subaru BRZ.
Additionally, the TurboTouch Kit line will also see three new kits with built-in 4.3-inch touchscreens for Ford Explorer, Honda Civic EX and Lexus RX300.
107 Series for Shallow Mount 7-Inch Decks
The new 107 Series dash kits feature a patent-pending design that will work with receivers like the Alpine iLX-W650, with special brackets included for installation of the Pioneer DMH-C2550NEX and DMHC2500NEX 6.8-inch touchscreen in-dash receivers.
They will also fit most compact shallow mount 7-inch screen receivers with minor or no dashboard modifications,
The 107-GM4B plastic TurboKit is designed to fit 2019-up Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 models and 2020-up Silverado and Sierra 2500 and 3500 models. It includes a blank out plate to replace the factory radio control buttons.
The 107-CH3B is designed for Jeep Wrangler JL 2018-up and Jeep Gladiator 2020-up models and the 107-GM3B is designed for Chevrolet Camaro 2016-2020 models.
Also new is a Turbo2 Kit 107-GM5B designed for Cadillac SRX 2010-2012 models, featuring an integrated OLED screen to retain climate control information display. The trim panel retains the use of the factory climate control buttons.
These four new kits will be available soon and will be on display at CES 2020 alongside 19 other new dash kits from Metra Electronics at booth 5211 in the North Hall.
