Alpine Electronics of America announced two new mechless (no CD/DVD) universal navigation decks with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, including an 8-inch model. Both have new user interfaces with faster screen transitions.
The models, now shipping, are a 7-inch INE-W987HD and 8-inch X308U. They are each controlled by a single “high-powered chip” instead of separate chips for audio and navigation. This results in faster screen transitions, said Alpine.
The new decks have anti-glare screens with four-way swipe control. Navigation gets pinch to zoom mapping controls.
Both units also include HD Radio and SiriusXM capability.
Suggested pricing is $1299.95 for the INE-W987HD and $1499.95 for the X308U.
