Best Buy is actively looking for a new Connected Car Buyer following the departure of Josh Koch this month, said industry members.

Koch, Best Buy’s Connect Car Buyer for about a year, was highly praised by suppliers for his furthering of the connected car concept at the chain. Koch was formerly the Smart Home buyer for Best Buy working with items such as Nest and the Ring Video Doorbell, and he brought that expertise in Internet of Things to the car market, they said.

Best Buy recently added several connected car products to its stores including the Waylens Secure360, the Owl Car Cam and  Automatic advanced car trackers.

Koch accepted a position with DISH Network as Senior Program Manager for Smart Home Products effective this month, leaving the post at Best Buy open.

The new Best Buy Connected Car Buyer would report to Randal Schwartz,  Senior Merchant Connected Car Services, Parts and Accessories.

Best Buy did not respond to our request for confirmation.
