Rockford Fosgate will display at the SEMA Show a new OEM concept car audio system that provides car dealerships with options for high end upgrades.

Rockford has offered a version of a port installed OEM upgrade system for a couple of years but the new concept system allows special packages that can be added by car dealerships.

The new ecoPUNCH plug and play concept system includes a scalable Plug & Play 5-channel DSP amplifier that delivers 300 watts when installed at the factory or port, but can offer higher watt output when installed at the car dealer.   It includes drop-in upgraded speakers for select locations, but again, dealers can offer even more options including higher-end speaker replacements plus an under-floor subwoofer system.

“The idea is that, with this system an OEM may choose multiple options for their end user consumer. (1) Factory installed audio (2) Port installed audio upgrades such as amplification and tuning (3) dealership installed upgrades such as those added at port or other additions such as a subwoofer and added amplifier power… The point being that we offer automotive OEMs several audio upgrade paths through our customizable, vehicle specific solutions,” said Rockford VP Sales & Marketing Theresa Anthony.

The concept system will be shown at SEMA in a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek although it can be configured by any OEM to any car.  The system to be displayed was built by Bill Garrison.

The solution is also designed for global appeal, with the ability to be configured differently for different markets.

Rockford’s Managing Director Dan Vanderbergh said the system is economical, easy to install and provides “a noticeably superior upgrade.”

It will be on view at booth N11839 at the Las Vegas Convention Center  Oct. 30 – Nov. 2.
