Alpine US Aftermarket Sales Up for the Year

Alpine reported its full year US sales rose 3.8 percent over a year earlier, with gains in both aftermarket and OEM sectors for the fiscal year ending March 2018.

Total global Alpine sales rose 11 percent to the equivalent of $2.5 billion (275.2 billion yen), up from $2.3 billion a year ago.

Total profits rose by 20 percent to $84.6 million, up from $70 million a year ago.

Alpine operating income increased 145 percent to $124.6 million, up from $51 million a year ago.

The results exceeded company forecasts.

Aftermarket global sales totaled $398.5 million while OEM sales totaled $2 billion.

For the coming year, however, Alpine forecasts a decline in US sales of 7.2 percent.

Total global sales are forecast to grow to $2.7 billion in the coming year with profits of $91.6 million.

JVCKenwood also reported higher sales and profits but did not break out US sales specifically.

JVCKenwood swung to a profit for the year on higher sales due to increased OEM business for the full year ending March, 2018.

Total sales were the equivalent of $61.1 million (6.68 billion yen), up from $52.8 million a year ago.  Profits hit $36 million, compared to a loss of $52 million a year ago.

In the automotive sector, JVCKenwood sales rose to $1.58 billion, up from $1.36 billion a year ago.  Operating income for the sector more than tripled to $74.2 million compared to $20.4 million a year ago.

The company cited “substantial” increases in sales and profits in its OEM business.

Sales in the Americas totaled $624 million.  Sales in Japan totaled $1.2 billion.

JVCKenwood says it is the number one brand in Japan in dashcams and its plan for the coming year is to expand dashcam sales in other regions.

It said sales of OEM car navigation systems “continue to remain strong.”

For the coming year, JVCKenwood forecasts sales of $2.8 billion and profits of $24.7 million.

Pioneer is due to report full year sales next week.
