DAS Companies a Mid-Atlantic consumer electronics distributor, is assuming the role of exclusive Sony car audio distributor in a larger swath of the East Coast.
Effective immediately, DAS assumes responsibility for the additional territories of Northern New Jersey, the five boroughs of New York City, Long Island, and Westchester County, New York to its existing Southern New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Washington DC and Virginia territory, said DAS.
MRI remains the distributor for additional territories in New York state.
“We are very pleased and honored to be the exclusive distributor for this great brand and extended territories within the 12-Volt industry,” said Rex Berfield, DAS National Sales Manager.
Sony currently sells through 14 distributors in North America to retailers apart from mass merchants.
It began shipping last week its second CarPlay/Android Auto deck a new XAV AX200 at $499.99. With a 6.4 inch screen it adds DVD player and SiriusXM capability to Sony’s original XAV AX100.
We are told that, according to the NPD Group, Sony held the number 1 post in sales of AV (non navigation) decks in July, the number 2 post in August and the number 4 post in September with the XAV AX100 at $399. NPD would not confirm these numbers in an earlier inquiry.
