Apple is expected to release a new iPhone 8 this fall that may include Augmented Reality (AR), which puts an overlay of digital info on top of live video.

So if you are driving and a front facing camera on an iPhone is showing you live video, AR can overlay it with icons of all the restaurants right off the next exit, as an example.  AR differs from virtual reality, which immerses you in a 3D world. That’s great for gaming, but not necessarily great for walking around or driving.

The new iPhone 8 is also  expected to use an OLED screen and command a hefty price tag that could exceed $1,000.

Some leaks say the new phone will have facial recognition and an edge to edge screen with no bezel.

Apple is expected to announce the new phone as well as upgrades to the current iPhone 7 and 7 Plus in September. Rumors on availability of the new iPhone 8 range from October to early 2018.

BGR.com claims the photo above of an iPhone 8 mockup  (resting on a 7 Plus) is 99 percent accurate, said CNBC.
