Polaris is expanding its own radio to new 2018 powersports models, it said Wednesday.

On the newly announced high end RZR XP Turbo EPS, the Polaris’ radio, called the Ride Command, is tied to a new DYNAMIX suspension system and rear camera.  Polaris claims the suspension is the first of its kind, monitoring the ride hundreds of times per second and continually adjusting each individual shock.  The readings of this activity appears on the radio screen.

The Polaris radio was first launched last year on a RZR XP 1000 and an Indian motorcycle and then extended to the GENERAL UTV line in January. It has a 7-inch screen with touch control even with gloves on.

It lets you track other riders via GPS on the screen even when they are not in view, and you can share routes with them.  The Bluetooth system allows riders to hold conversations with passengers without shouting.  The radio also integrates with a GoPro to control the camera with start and stop recording and the ability to preview recordings on the radio screen.  The system also offers USB and can work with an app.

The new RZR XP Turbo EPS edition will sell for $25,999.

The Ride Command radio (without the DYNAMIX suspension system) will also be standard equipment on new 2018 Slingshot, three-wheel, open cockpit vehicles.

The Ride Command will be standard on the 2018 Slingshot SL, SLR and SLR LE models and will be available as an accessory on the Slingshot S.

Turn by Turn navigation will be offered as standard on the SLR and SLR LE models and can be added as an accessory upgrade on the L and SL models.

A Rockford Fosgate system on the premium SLR LE includes a 200 watt Rockford amplifier.  The Slingshot also has other premium features such as a BILSTEIN 10-way adjustable suspension, and premium sport seats.

But a press announcement from Polaris on the new Slingshots Wednesday featured the new Ride Command audio system as the headline item.

“The introduction of Ride Command merges modern conveniences of today’s latest technology with Slingshot’s high-adrenaline riding experience,” said Kevin Reilly, VP, Marketing – Slingshot. “The addition of the SLR LE rounds out our vehicle offerings with a premium model for those who demand the absolute best.”

The Slingshot S will be available starting at $19,999, the SL starting at $25,499, and the SLR starting at $28,999. A limited run of the Slingshot SLR LE will be available starting at $30,999.
