On June 1, supplier Cybcar America will launch a high tech line of driver safety products through a new independent division called DriveAssist. The products are aimed at “top tier” 12 volt specialists and will include vehicle specific high end dash cameras and convenience products such as power lift gates.
Industry veteran Bob Goodman is the new VP of Sales & Marketing for the new DriveAssist.
DriveAssist will also offer blind spot detection systems; a multi-function 8-inch mirror with IGO mapping, Bluetooth and a rear camera input; and a selection of cameras and monitors.
A key selling point for the company is its “lifetime warranty” on all products, when they are purchased from an authorized reseller.
Vehicle specific dash cameras (digital video recorders or DVRs) will start at a suggested retail price of $599. They will be capable of displaying the recorded video from the dash cam on the factory radio screen.
Around July, the company expects to offer a liftgate that can be controlled by gestures.
Goodman previously held posts at Rydeen Mobile and Rostra.
He said DriveAssist’s primary focus will be to introduce new advanced safety products for the top tier of 12 volt specialists and expeditors. “The lineup will feature a category I’m very excited about, power liftgate kits, including applications for dozens of vehicles. Additionally, we will have wireless solutions that are actually integrated into the components and not merely add-ons to existing products,” Goodman said.
The company’s Lift-EZ Power Liftgate Kits will carry a suggested retail price of $1099; the Stealth Vue line of OE fit Dash Cams will be available at $249-$299; and a multi-function IQ Mirror will carry a suggested retail price of $679.
“Additionally, we will offer multiple blind spot solutions including our Sidespotter OE fit Blind Spot Camera system and our CAN Bus Microwave Detection system, priced at $749 and $549 MSRP respectively. I’m currently selecting manufacturers’ representatives and discussions are being setup with the premiere 12-volt specialty retailers in North America. I’m confident 2017 is the tipping point in the ADAS [Advanced Driver Assistance Systems] category and DriveAssist will supply products unavailable elsewhere,” added Goodman.
The DriveAssist web site will launch on June 1 and DriveAssist will display at the SEMA Show 2017.
