Pioneer Issues Firmware Update for Older Radios

Pioneer announced a firmware update for its older in-dash navigation receivers.

The update, version 1.14 applies to the AVIC-8000NEX, AVIC-7000NEX, AVIC-6000NEX, AVIC-5000NEX and AVH-4000NEX (sold in the US and Canada).

It corrects a virtual keyboard issue related to iOS 9.x and it corrects a music display issue related to iOS 8 and later.  It also fixes minor bugs.

Pioneer said installation of the update, using a blank USB driver 2GB or larger (formatted to FAT32) should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete.

Directions are as follows:

  1. Download the firmware update files to a computer from the Pioneer website: pioneerelectronics.com/firmware
  1. Transfer the files to the USB storage device for insertion into the Pioneer in-dash DVD Receiver.
