KICKER® Performance Audio engineers have developed eight new L7S™ Subwoofers using patented Solo-Baric® square-woofer technology, in 8-, 10-, 12- and 15-inch models, each available with 2- or 4 Ohm dual voice coils. KICKER’s most recognizable subwoofers, featuring cones that produce more bass than like-sized round woofers, will be available at Authorized KICKER Dealers in-store and online by first quarter.
The L7S is engineered to provide deep bass at high power levels without compromising sound quality. This is achieved with multiple KICKER innovations, mostly incorporated into the subwoofer’s iconic square design.
KICKER uses the injection-molded SoloKon™ cone system on the L7S, which adds targeted strength to the woofer cone for reliable performance and accurate response. The 360-degree, constant-contact back bracing adheres directly to every contour of the square cone, making the woofer as strong and responsive as possible.
Patented corner ribs minimize distortion and a blue-stitched Santoprene® surround supports the cone structure. Heavy-duty ribbon tinsel leads take the amplifier’s power through a semi-progressive spider, to voice coils equipped with high-temp copper windings that are engineered to handle intense heat while delivering the sonic accuracy listeners need.
The framework of the L7S is comprised of a cast-aluminum basket, engineered with custom perimeter-venting slots placed along the bottom of the basket. The venting ensures the woofer remains at the perfect operating temperature by allowing air to constantly circulate around the motor. To dissipate any excess heat, KICKER’s UniPlate™ back plate and pole piece are a single, solid unit, which allows heat to move away from the motor. Additional venting below the spider allows air to move, and potentially damaging heat, to escape.
To ensure reliable play and easy installation, L7S terminals are satin-nickel plated and spring-loaded for easy connections, even with thick speaker wire and complex series/parallel configurations.
