Rosen Electronics (AAMP Global) announced at CES a “tablet” radio with knobs, and 8-inch screen that is its first to include CarPlay.
The single DIN unit looks a bit like a Jetson’s style radio with a patent pending mount. It lets you add CarPlay and built-in navigation plus an 8-inch capacitive touch screen to almost any car. It is a mechless (no CD player) with Bluetooth, HD Radio, and SiriusXM capability.
The model UN1780 is called a “Floating Tablet Multimedia System. Rosen says, “It allows the install of a usable 8″ screen in vehicles that typically were limited by a standard 2DIN opening.”
It has HDMI, Bluetooth audio streaming, dual USB connectors, rear camera, AV inputs and 5V 6 channel RCA outputs.
The “brain” of the unit can be mounted up to three meters away from the screen.
The UN1780 is due to ship in July at $1,499.
