Hifonics introduced what it calls the first Coincident Mounted Compression Horn for its wake board tower and powersports speaker lines.
Mounting the tweeter and woofer together, using the same diaphragm and magnet, creates a more focused sound with high output, ideal for powersports audio, said Hifonics parent Maxxsonics. The system delivers about five times more sound than a traditional cone speaker, it said.
The Hifonics THOR speakers use UHS Technology and blend the benefits of a shortened horn design with thermal formed woofer cones.
They are available in an 8-inch tower and 6.5-inch compact tower speakers plus 6.5-inch door speakers. With minimal amplification, they can produce 92dB from the 6.5 inch speakers and 95dB from the 8-inch driver.
The speakers will be on display at the SEMA Show November 1-4 in the Silver Lot, Booth 61005 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
