Hertz announced it is shipping a new UNO by Hertz entry level line of car speakers and amplifiers.
The line is designed to compete at lower price points (lower than the current entry level Dieci series) but “still offer attainable margins,” said Elettromedia, Hertz’s parent company.
UNO by Hertz will be sold only through a select number of distributors, who will sign special dealer agreements (to be approved by Elettromedia) and track serial numbers to ensure the product is not sold on the Internet.
“This is a new sales channel for us and like with most things we do, we are not following the same business practices that have been used for years in our industry,” said a spokesman.
Products include an X165, 6.5-inch coaxial, and a K165, 6.5-inch component kit that are ready to ship at suggested retail prices of $175 and $110/pair, respectively.
Additional UNO by Hertz speakers will arrive in October, followed by amplifiers and subwoofers in the fourth quarter and at CES 2017 in January.
