CORRECTED—PAC (AAMP Global) unveiled at KnowledgeFest an “Amplifier Interface” that lets you add aftermarket products to factory radios that are part of a factory amplified system.
It works with data bus-controlled systems (including OEM Bose, JBL, and Sony systems to name a few) to give you front, rear and subwoofer outputs for system building.
Called AmpPRO, the device also provides variable volume, fade, balance, bass, treble and mid audio settings and variable audio output with an option for a TOSLink optical output so it can be used with aftermarket digital signal processors from other brands.
AmpPRO will be offered before the end of the year in vehicle specific plug and play models. The first versions will be for Ford vehicles with Sony systems and several Chrysler models followed by Toyota, Volkswagen and General Motors versions.
The AmpPRO will carry a suggested retail price of $299.
“It cuts out the need for expensive and complex integration solutions and simplifies it to a a $300 unit with plug and play simplicity,” said Nathan Wincek, AAMP Global Senior Product Manager for Integration Products.
CORRECTED–The optional TOSLink optical output is the APA-TOS1 and will be available separately for add-on to all AmpPRO interfaces. It will retail for $59.95 SRP.
