Apple made the announcement at a press event today where it introduced a new 4-inch iPhone SE and a new, smaller iPad Pro 9.7 (which measures 9.7 inches and joins the earlier iPad Pro 12.9 inch version).

Apple claims the iPhone SE, is the most powerful 4-inch phone on the market. It uses much of the same technology found in iPhone 6S products including the same processor. A new feature is Night Shift, which adjusts the colors at night to avoid blue light, which has been shown to prevent the ability to fall asleep.   It has a 12 megapixel Apple Watch nylon wovencamera, and LTE speeds 50 percent faster than the iPhone 5S. WiFi is also 3X faster than the 5S. The phone includes fingerprint recognition and Apple Pay capability. Orders for the phone start March 24 with availability March 31 starting at $399 for the 16GB version.

The new iPad Pro also features Night Shift and a new True Tone display and will be available on the same dates with a new 256GB version at $899 and a base price for 32GB at $599.

Apple also dropped the price of its smartwatch to $299 and added a new nylon woven band option.
