Hifonics is offering an Internet-only line of amplifiers that will be sold to select Internet sellers, under a minimum advertised price (MAP) policy.
The line of Hercules amps will not be sold through distributors, and will only be available through Internet web sites that have legitimate customer service and tech support, said Hifonics’ parent, Maxxsonics. Typically the Hercules line has an open distribution policy with no MAP.
The amps in the program are four models with old-school designs but using new technology, as part of a 35th anniversary redesign for the brand.
“Distributors sell to smaller customers that sell on the Internet… For somebody, somewhere, the only advantage they have it price so they lower the price and somebody else lowers the price, so it’s a race to zero. So what we’ve devised is celebrating the 35th anniversary for Hifonics brands, bringing some of our higher end 35th anniversary goods to the market,.. [in a manner] that maintains their profitability,” said Maxxonics’ Ted Henricks.
