Powersports Audio May Double for 12 Volt Retailers

Powersports audio for off-road vehicles such as ATVs and UTVs could account for 15 percent of car audio retailer sales two years from now, up from about 8 percent presently, according to a survey by Clarity Research performed with CEoutlook.

Of the nearly 60 respondents to our survey, half were retailers, 11 were distributors, 14 were suppliers and a few were “other.”

Overall, 88 percent of the respondents said powersports mobile audio has increased in popularity and 10 percent said it is staying the same.

Motorcycle audio currently accounts for 10 percent of total mobile audio sales and is expected to increase to 14 percent in two years.

Marine audio accounts for 19 percent of respondents’ mobile audio sales and is expected to increase to 21 percent in two years.

Respondents said they have been selling audio for ATVs and UTVs for an average of 3 years, motorcycles for 5 years and marine audio for 10 years.
