A new sister company to Cadence made its debut at CES this month called OnCore with a line of high end sound quality speakers designed by Eric Stevens, formerly of Image Dynamics.
The line will be sold and marketed separately from Cadence, and with separate sales forces and manufacturer representatives.
The company will be signing up reps and distributors in the near future. The brand will sell mainly direct to specialist retailers but will offer two-step distribution to authorized accounts for those that don’t want to maintain inventory, said Stevens.
OnCore showed new subwoofers, component and coaxial speakers at CES 2015 and plans to offer two lines of amplifiers and a sound processor starting around May.
All the subwoofers are field serviceable so dealers can stock re-cone kits and OnCore can replace the kits to the dealer.
The first entries include shallow mount long excursion woofers with a mounting depth of 4 ¼ inches and 13 mm excursion, one way. The 10- and 12-inch models handle 500 to 600 watts and will ship at the end of Q1 or early Q2 at a target price of $299 and $349.
They are joined by standard depth subwoofers with surrounds that extend out into the basket for more cone space. These include an XW15 15-inch model.
Also new are 6.5 inch component speakers and coaxials. The component sets use a midbass with an underhung design for voice coil and magnets.
