Rockford Fosgate is showing during CES new Punch and Power speakers with a new mounting system.
The coaxial and component speakers are “true 6.5 inch drivers” with a new hole-and-slot mounting pattern designed to more easily align in most cars that call for a 6.5 inch speaker, including domestic, European and many import cars.
The new Punch full range 6.5 inch line includes component speakers with an external tweeter crossover. It joins current Rockford models with internal crossovers so installers now get a choice.
Models include the P1650 ($99.99 suggested retail price), P165-SE ($199.99), and P165-SI ($249.99) due in Q1.
Under the Power series are the T1650 Coax System with 75-watt RMS power handling ($149.99) and the T1650-S Component System with 80-watt RMS handling ($349.99) scheduled to ship Q1/Q2, respectively.
The Power models are designed for both power and sound quality. The new Power T1650 coax now features a bridge-mounted tweeter versus the earlier pole-mounted design.
Additional T1650 and T1650-S features include:
- Injection molded carbon fiber filled polypropylene cone
- Linear high excursion matched motor magnetics and suspension design
- T1650: 1-inch treated aluminum dome tweeter
- T1650-S: 1-inch treated fabric dome tweeter
The speakers are on display January 6-8 at The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino (Artist Ballroom) in Las Vegas.
