JL Audio will launch a new line of mini amplifiers that are ” truly water resistant,” apparently for the power sports market.
The company said the new “HX” amps are “very powerful for their size,” and use NexD Class D technology, which is highly efficient and “very easy on motorcycle charging systems,” according to VP Marketing Manville Smith.
The line has an IPX6 water resistant rating and the products are corrosion-resistant with cast aluminum chassis and stainless steel hardware.
A 4-channel model shown above will produce 70W x 4 @ 2 ohms, or 50W x 4 @ 4 ohms (RMS, with less than 1% THD+N). It is fully bridgeable, so it can be used as a 3-channel amplifier, or as a 2-channel amplifier (140W x 2 @ 4 ohms).
It will be joined by a companion mono amplifier with 300 watts of power into 2 ohms.
More details will be announced in January during CES at the JL Audio suite at the Palms Hotel. Pricing is not yet available.
