The Mobile Electronics Retailers Association (MERA) will change its name, and that of  the KnowledgeFest trade show to the same name as the organization’s magazine, Mobile Electronics.

The In Car Experts (ICE) buying group will also share the same name, and so will MERA products such as TSS Point-of-Sale software, MAID Installation software and Fit Guide product/vehicle database.

All the properties will fall under the new Mobile Electronics group.

“Each of our businesses, in their own way, are focused on helping manufacturers reach retailers and retailers reach consumers,” said Chris Cook, President of the new Mobile Electronics group. “At the same time, there are several areas in which efforts are duplicated and opportunities for efficiency are overlooked. What we want to do is combine all of our products and services so that we can offer more value to our manufacturer partners and a complete, integrated support structure for our retailers. At the same time, we will continue to support the entire industry through Mobile Electronics magazine and the newly named Mobile Electronics tradeshow.”

As part of the restructuring, Mobile Electronics has tapped consumer electronics industry veteran Kerry Moyer for the new post of VP Strategic Partnerships for the group.  Moyer worked for 18 years at the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) in many roles including Senior Director of Strategic Relationships.  Prior to that Moyer spent 18 years in retail as an owner-partner in a chain of AV and mobile audio stores in the  Washington, DC area.

The Mobile Electronics group will roll out a new website, mobile-electronics.com, as well as information and program materials, over the next few weeks. For more information, call Kerry Moyer at (978) 645-6457 or email him at [email protected]
