Apple’s iWatch, expected this fall, will include more than 10 sensors to track features like health and fitness and it will come in different versions, said The Wall Street Journal.

By contrast, the Samsung Gear 2 appears to have 3 sensors including an accelerometer, gyro sensor and heart rate sensor.

Apple is aiming to go beyond the current smart watches on the market whose functions are about the same as those found on a smartphone, said the Journal.

The watch could launch as early as October and come in different screen sizes.

Apple has also been testing new ways to charge the iWatch through solar, inductive and motion charging, said a New York Times report in February.

The market for wearable devices is expected to take off in a few years, with IDC predicting global sales to soar from 19 million unit this year to 112 million units by 2018.
