Morel will ship in March car audio speakers at a new price segment under its Tempo line. The new Tempo Ultra component systems and coaxial (point source) speakers will fall in the $300 to $459 range.
Additionally the company launched titanium voice coil speakers, it’s first to borrow titanium from the home market for use in the car.
The new Ultra speakers include component drivers in 5, 6 1/2 and 6 x9 and 5 x 7 inch sizes. The company is pursuing unusual speaker sizes to offer more drop-in models for cars without the need for special tuning.
The point source speakers (the tweeter is recessed all the way in the center of the cone so the woofer and tweeter and time aligned) include five model sizes from 4 to 6 x 9 inches.
The new titanium models are under the Elate series, which also use a new crossover and new tweeter mounting hardware and a lotus grille. These include a 9 inch woofer as well as a 5 ¼ inch and 6 ½ inch version. They are offered in 2 and 3-way configurations. The model 502 at 5 ¼ inches carries a price of $1,500 and ships in April.
Morel also showed at CES a new anniversary limited edition speaker line at CES which won a 2014 Design and Engineering Award.
