Each year the Consumer Electronics Association presents CES Innovations Design & Engineering Awards to leading products to be shown at CES. But it also picks one product from all those awards as the “Best” in each category.
For 2014, the Best of Innovations award winner is Pioneer’s AppRadio 3— the newest in Pioneer’s smartphone-connected receivers for the car. The 3rd generation unit adds MirrorLink and is the first to offer a built-in DVD player. It works with Apple iOS and Android devices, and has a 7-inch capacitive multi-touch screen similar to those used in smartphones.
You can command the radio (at $499 suggested retail price) via Siri Eyes Free and Google Voice Recognition. And it also features Bluetooth audio streaming.
In other categories, the “Best of” winner for Software & Mobile Apps was Harman’s Aha, which lets you create preset stations from your radio’s buttons for Internet Radio stations.
Bang & Olufsen won a “Best of” award in high end audio and Sony took awards in multiple categories. You can see all the award winners here.
