Apple suppliers have started mass producing components for the next iPhone, they told The Wall Street Journal.  And the new iPhone will ship at the end of August, said one of the suppliers.

Additionally, they said a new lighter version of Apple’s 9.7 inch iPad will go into production this month.  It will have a thinner and lighter display that uses thin film instead of the glass currently used in iPads.  The film is integrated with touch sensors.

Apple is also testing larger screen sizes for the iPhone and iPad.  It has asked its parts suppliers to deliver prototypes of smartphone screens larger than 4 inches (the size used in the iPhone 5) and close to 13 inches for the iPad.
