SiriusXM OnDemand

Ford is the first radio supplier and car maker to offer control over SiriusXM Internet Radio so that listeners can get personalized and OnDemand SiriusXM controlled by the car radio system.

Effective Wednesday, over 1 million Ford Sync systems can control a SiriusXM Internet Radio App on a smartphone (or tablet). This works over voice control, steering wheel controls or by the radio controls.

The app gives you MySXM personalized radio so you can tailor many of the SiriusXM stations (like choosing later-in-the-decade music when listening to the ‘80s channel).

It also permits access to SiriusXM On Demand  so you can access at will, any time, from a catalog of hundreds of shows, including Howard Stern, Martha Stewart  and other programming.  The app does not, however, offer SiriusXM’s standard streaming of 155 channels.

Drivers must first download the app to an iPhone or Android phone. Ford Sync radios with AppLink can then work with the app.

“SiriusXM Internet Radio’s MySXM and On Demand features are entering the car alongside satellite radio for the first time, enhancing the SiriusXM listening experience by giving Ford customers using SYNC AppLink the ability to hear personalized music channels and programming when they want it…” said Jim Meyer, SiriusXM CEO.

Also customers purchasing a new Ford with satellite radio will get a 6 month free subscription to SiriusXM’s All Access Package with access to SiriusXM channels including all NFL games, Howard Stern, every NASCAR race, Oprah Radio and MLB Network Radio, and more, plus access to SiriusXM Internet Radio on smartphones and other connected devices as well as online at siriusxm.com.
