Parrot Says it Offers the Most Navi Options

Parrot announced three major additions to the applications available for its Parrot ASTEROID line of connected car solutions:

TomTom for ASTEROID: Drivers can take now take advantage of TomTom’s unique navigation capabilities right from their ASTEROID Smart or Tablet unit, including quick route calculations, clear voice instructions, fuel-efficient routes, and more. The multi-tasking app allows users to listen to TomTom’s voice instructions while listening to music or making hands-free calls.

Waze for ASTEROID: ASTEROID Smart and Tablet users can now access Waze’s popular community-based navigation and traffic information right from their devices. Customized for the ASTEROID environment, users can also access features including speed radar alerts, real-time route calculations based on current driving conditions, live chat with other members, and more. Waze for ASTEROID is also available for ASTEROID Mini.

Navfree for ASTEROID: Drivers can now access Navfree’s ‘open source’ map from OpenStreetMap, updated thanks to its 400,000 worldwide registered members. Users can access voice instructions and route calculations quickly and easily, and search for destinations through Google and Microsoft Bing. One tap on the Parrot ASTEROID Smart or Tablet’s touch screen allows users to select a point on the map, and begin navigating there immediately.

Parrot also recently announced the addition of Facebook for ASTEROID to its lineup of applications, enabling drivers to safely stay connected to the latest updates from friends and family while they’re on the go.

Additionally, an update to the Parrot ASTEROID software for the Smart and Tablet has been released and is required before downloading the new navigation programs. In addition to minor bug fixes and GPS software improvements, a few of the notable improvements include:

 

  • Auto Tuner audio resume upon startup
  • Track position memory is saved for all music sources at power off
  • Availability to search for additional Bluetooth devices and change the default pairing code
  • Updated phone compatibility to include the Samsung Galaxy S4, as well as others
