Clarion Corp. of America said its next generation of car radios with video or navigation will include advanced natural speech recognition from Google as well as Google search and positioning technology.
Clarion users will get access to Google Places for the same type of location based search services offered on smartphones. Clarion will also deliver Google Voice Search for spoken searches that are combined with Clarion’s noise elimination technology for improved voice recognition.
“The integration of the Google Places API means access to a rich and constantly refreshed database of over 80 million restaurants, stores and other points of interest to explore,” said a Clarion spokesman.
The features are combined with Clarion’s cloud-based Smart Access smartphone connection. Smart Access is a “master app” that works with a smartphone to connect the Clarion radio to the cloud and permit the download of other apps that are optimized to work with the radio, including apps for navigation, or that let you dictate Tweets, texts and Facebook posts. It can also read aloud your incoming texts as your drive.
