Directed began shipping Tuesday the XpressStart ONE that provides one-box remote start solutions for just about every car.
It integrates the remote starter with an interface for the vehicle and works with older cars as well as new models in a combined digital and analog system.
It can work with any of Directed’s remote transmitters and lets you provide a menu of features that Directed will sell at similar prices to the older remote starters. Seven new XpressStart ONE all-in-one packages are offered for each of the Viper, Python, and Clifford brands.
Directed claims the units will “reshape” the industry because they are updatable and they move the market away from just selling remote start to selling features. They also permit Directed to respond more quickly to the launch of new car models.
In a separate option, XpressStart ONE, first shown at the January CES, can connect to the cloud and access vehicle Diagnostic Trouble Codes with the use of SmartStart and your smart phone.
Directed notes that J.D. Power & Associates says 48 percent of consumers would like to control their car using their smartphone.
Directed’s Peter Fazi said the company will continue to also supply the earlier analog remote start packages for as long as dealers continue to buy them.
