Vizualogic will show at the Consumer Electronics Show a back seat video headrest system which may the first to include a removable Android tablet.
The 7-inch tablet runs on Android 4.0 and is paired with a Perfect Match headrest replacement for the car. The advantage of the system is you get a custom headrest to retain the factory-look of the video system, but you also get a portable Android tablet for use outside the car.
The tablet has built in WiFi and weighs 10.8 ounces. It charges while sitting in the headrest, and has a 5-hour battery life when used on the go. It has 4GB of memory, expandable to 36GB with a micro SD card and it includes an FM transmitter to play music through the car’s speakers. It comes with wireless headphones, USB slot and a home charger.
The tablet provides access to over 50,000 apps in the Amazon AppStore.
The patent-pending headrest/tablet system will be available the first week of January 2013 at $1,499 suggested retail price including tablet for over 2,500 vehicles. Vizualogic is taking pre-orders now.
