New in motorcycle audio is an infotainment system from MotoChello that also allows communication between driver and passenger through helmet headsets.

Motocello MC100_GL1sThe device, called the MC-100, includes a touch screen (backlit) display that mounts on the bike’s handle bars.  The screen can be used even with gloved hands.

The audio system includes a built-in FM /weather band and a dedicated port to connect an FRS two-way radio. Then there are audio ports to connect up to 3 other devices such as an iPod, motorcycle GPS, XM radio, CD player or radar detectors.  If you plug in a Garmin GPS with Bluetooth then you get Bluetooth access to your smartphone with voice control through your helmet microphone and headset.

MotoChello says it opted for a wired system to maintain sound quality.

The MC-100 includes 2 sets of headsets and microphones for helmet installation, handlebar mount and all necessary cables for installation and operation. Multiple audio cables are also included to attach devices, with separate cables for FRS radios. The system will be available in late September directly from MotoChello.

MotoChello, based in Gardnerville, NV was founded by an electronic engineer who, as a rider himself, was dissatisfied with the motorcycle audio and communications systems on the market.

MC-100 has a suggested retail price of $1295.00 which includes equipment for 2 riders as well as shipping.  Through the end of the year, there is an introductory special at $995.
