Boss Audio is now shipping an iPhone snap in radio first shown at the Consumer Electronics Show in January.
The model 810DBI is a single-DIN head unit that comes with a detachable cradle for the iPhone, which mounts right on the face of the radio.
The driver plugs the iPhone into the dock in landscape mode, and all of the phone’s music, video and apps are at the driver’s fingertips.
The 810DBI has a control module that can swap with the iPhone cradle. When installed, the module provides AM/FM radio with 30 presets plus a front aux-in port and a full USB connection. The central display shows station information and settings for the built-in equalizer.
A release button allows the control module to slide out, and the iPhone cradle to snap in.
The 810DBI comes with a cradle for the iPhone 4 and 4S (3G/3GS cradle can be ordered separately). The radio charges the phone and comes with a built-in, 4-channel amplifier rated at 80 watts max.
It includes a set of RCA audio outputs in addition to a composite (RCA) video output to connect a separate monitor and/or power amplifier.
Power, volume and mute are controlled by radio buttons or an IR remote.
Suggested retail price is 810DBI is $229, excluding professional installation.
