Industry Loses Brilliant Installer to Cancer

Industry member, supremely talented fabricator and friend to many, Steve Hock passed away of skin cancer at the age of 31 on July 16, 2012.

Steve HockHe was an active member of the 12vinsider, where he helped fellow installers, selflessly sharing his vast knowledge of fabricating and car audio installation.

Dennis Hopper of Intraphex said, “I would say the industry lost a great friend in him.”

His installs were admired by peers, among them a Ford F-150 truck for motorcross star Jason Ellis and a Lincoln Mark LT (photos shown below).

“He was one of those guys that didn’t want to keep things to himself.  If he learned something, he would pass it along,” added Hopper.

Hock worked at shops including Audio Concepts in Simi Valley, CA and at Hock Precision Machining.

“He was always very hungry for new solutions instead of just settling for the old tried and true…he would find inventive ways to build things and push the limit,” added Jon Kowantz, owner of Handcrafted Car Audio in Arizona.

“When he was sick, his biggest concern was his kids and a college fund and making sure they would be okay,” he added.

He is survived by his children, Dexter and Zoey and his fiance , Tami Martin.

Donations to his family may be made here.
