If you wonder if radio advertising is worth the bucks, here are some facts to consider.

Pioneer DEH-P6400BTOn the one hand, the amount of time people spend listening to the radio is down 47 percent from last year, said the head of the Consumer Electronics Association, Gary Shapiro.

But actually more people are listening to the radio, according to Arbitron.

Got it:  More people are listening, but for less time.

The audience for radio increased slightly year over year this June by almost 600,000 persons.  Almost 93 percent of the population aged 12 and over listen to the radio.

The demographic for radio listeners is attractive.  Over 95 percent of adults age 18 to 49 with a household income of $75,000 or more tune in to radio on a weekly basis.  That’s 22 million listeners in this demographic, said Arbitron.
