If you have an Android phone and drive a Toyota or Lexus, a new kit due this July should help you control your phone from the car radio.
It will mirror compatible Android phones directly on Toyota and Lexus navigation screens. All phone features will be displayed on the factory nav screen and be controlled using a touch screen or joystick depending on the vehicle model.
The kit will communicate with the phone via Bluetooth but it will charge it via USB. Video will be controlled from the phone via HDMI or MHL.
The new kit may be considered an Android version of VAIS’s current MediaLinQ Plus kit that brings iPod Out to Toyota radios.
At least one of VAIS’s kits will support both Android and iPhone/iPod smartphones, said the company.
VAIS plans a pre-release video of the product this June.
