Long Beach, CA (April 3, 2012) – Kenwood USA Corporation announced the delivery of its flagship in-dash navigation system, which is specifically engineered and manufactured exclusively for the Kenwood Excelon dealer network.

Kenwood DNX9990HD The DNX9990HD ($1,600.00 suggested retail price) features a wide range of built-in technologies, including HD Radio, Pandora® streaming, Bluetooth with audio streaming capabilities and on-board industry-leading Garmin navigation.  For 2012, the new DNX9990HD offers Android smartphone connectivity that allows for complete control of music files native to an Android-platform smartphone from the touchscreen of the Kenwood receiver (the smartphone must be set to USB mass storage mode).

A breakthrough in seamless OEM integration with a factory SYNC system is made possible through Kenwood’s first-to-market introduction of CarPortal for iDataLink Maestro (manufactured and sold by Automotive Data Solutions).  Using the iDataLink Maestro module and a vehicle-specific quick-connect T-harness system, the DNX9990HD communicates with the vehicle data network and SYNC module.   This single-box solution allows the DNX9990HD to offer touchscreen command and control of factory satellite radio and display text, Bluetooth hands-free and audio streaming and SYNC voice controlled features while retaining steering wheel controls and factory-installed audio functions.

The latest in navigation technology by Garmin is featured, including advanced photo-realistic Junction View and Lane Assist which reduce highway interchange confusion and improves driving safety.  Traffic Trend routing calculates routes based on historic traffic data, while My Trend routing predicts routes based on the user’s driving behavior.  Built-in NAVTEQ Live Traffic provides real-time traffic data for over 90 major cities in North America (including Canada).

The DNX9990HD also includes Aha Radio app support which allows touchscreen control over Aha Radio and its personalized Internet radio, social media newsfeeds from Facebook, Twitter and Yelp, on-demand music, personalized traffic reports and podcasts when used with an enabled iPhone or Android-platform smartphone.  Twin iPod control allows for the connection and operation of two iPod, iPod Touch or iPhone devices.

The DNX9990HD has a high-speed, animated graphic user interface (GUI) with movable, drag-and-drop icons for complete customization.  A high-resolution WVGA 6.95” touchscreen with Dynamic Brightness Control provides the best looking DVD video, iPod video and USB video, and a reverse tilt feature allows the display to be angled in either direction for optimal viewing.  While in the navigation mode, the DNX9990HD can display mapping information as well as audio/video controls on a split screen and will even allow continued monitoring of the navigation screen in split screen view while making or taking hands-free phone calls.  Parrot Bluetooth technology is built into the DNX9990HD, providing convenient and safe voice-dialing of telephone numbers (compatible with most smartphones featuring voice-dialing capability).  The advanced Bluetooth module is also capable of controlling Pandora Internet radio from Android and Blackberry-platform smartphones via serial port profile (SPP).

The DNX9990HD is covered by a limited two-year manufacturer’s warranty and is now available at authorized Kenwood Excelon retailers.
