CompuStar (Firstech) plans to offer its DroneMobile remote-start-from-a-phone devices for Windows Phone 7 smartphones this spring and is introducing a new version of the DroneMobile app for iPhone and Android phones (with a BlackBerry update to follow this spring).

With the new app, users may check the “status” of their vehicle from a smartphone.  You can view if the car is locked, started, secure and also look at other car functions.

DroneMobileThe DroneMobile app also now offers more detailed alert notifications and permits customized home screens.

The DroneMobile system starts at $349.99 and includes a year of free services (which is $49.99/year thereafter).  In addition to remote start, it also lets users lock/unlock doors and track their car on the phone.  It also sends alerts if your teen is speeding or leaves a proscribed area (geofencing). A list of features may be seen here.
