Rockford Corp.’s broad lineup for 2012 includes the first mini car audio amps under the Lightning Audio brand.

The mini amps fit in cramped spaces, and  include a mono model about the size of a paperback book.  Called the LA-1000MDMINI, the amp is rated at 250 watts into 4 ohms or 500 watts into 2 ohms.  Its 4-channel cousin is a few inches longer (about 12 by 6 and 2.3 inches thick).  The model LA-4100MINI is rated at 50 watts x 4 into 4 ohms and 75 watts x 4 into 2 ohms.  Both are targeted to ship in Q2 at an everyday price of $249.95.

Rockford is also shrinking the size of its new Prime amps for 2012.  New models measure 1/3rd shorter than similar amps.  They claim better efficiency in a smaller chassis and include 2 full range amps and 2 mono amps.  Everyday (MAP) prices start at $99.99 for a flexible 2-channel R125-2 amp rated at 42.5 watts x2 or 125 watts x 1 at 4 ohms. At the top of the series is a $229 mono amp rated at 250 watts into 4 ohms, 500 watts into 2 ohms or 1,200 watts into 1 ohm. They ship this quarter.

They will be joined by 3 Punch BRT amplifiers ranging from $269.99 to $399.99 MAP due in Q1.

In speakers Rockford will show during CES,  a new subwoofer line—the Punch P3 Shallow series.  It includes an 8-inch subwoofer that handles 150 watts RMS, and which comes in both 2-ohm and dual 4-ohm models.  The P3SD4-8 will ship in Q2 at a MAP of $189.99.  Also in the line are two 10-inch and two 12-inch versions.

On the marine side are 4 Rockford amplifiers with marinized circuit boards and chrome-plated hardware to prevent corrosion.  They are due in Q2 from $299.99 to $499.99 MAP and will be joined by new wakeboard tower speaker systems.

Finally, shipping currently are new Rockford Prime, Punch and Power full range speakers in 6, 6.5 and 6.75-inch sizes.

“Rockford Fosgate now has our most comprehensive full range speaker line ever,” said Jake Braaten.  “Over the years, many installs have become more burdensome because some car manufacturers, such as many Chevy truck and Honda models, have very shallow mounting areas for the factory speakers. Now, with nine different sized speakers in the six-inch speaker category, we can virtually guarantee that we have a full range speaker for every budget and every application.”
