The only in-car product supplier to win a “Best of Innovations Awards” from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) this year was Ford, for its MyFord Mobile—an app that lets Focus Electric drivers control their car from a phone or web site. But that is just the “Best of” category.
Hundreds of products also won honors within their categories including 3 automotive categories: in-vehicle navigation/control/telematics, in-vehicle Audio/Video and in-vehicle accessories. All were announced Tuesday by the CEA.
The 2012 “Innovations Honorees” for In-Vehicle Audio/Video are:
DISH Network Tailgater–a lightweight, portable satellite TV antenna to bring DISH channels to tailgating parties, camping, and other outdoor venues.
JBL MS-2 –a plug and play car audio optimizer that automatically calibrates the best acoustic settings for the car.
JBL MS-A1004 –a small, 4-channel x 100 watt class-D amplifier with an all digital preamp. It includes a large display that makes all settings visible.
Livio Radio The Kit –an add-on kit that delivers wireless Internet radio to almost any car through your iPhone. And it also adds Bluetooth hands-free calling and USB phone charging.
Morel Supremo 602 2-Way Component System– a high end speaker system using technology borrowed from Morel’s Fat Lady home speaker system.
The 2012 “Innovations Honorees” for In-Vehicle Accessories include:
Able Planet Incorporated True Fidelity Wireless IR Heaphone -–wireless IR headphones using a patented technology for rich bass, clear high tones and intelligible speech to make movies sound “live.”
Cobra Electronics Corporation Cobra iRadar –-a community-based detection system that uses your smartphone to give alerts to live police and redlight cameras plus other cautions.
Directed Electronics Xpresskit PKE — an aftermarket Passive Keyless Entry system that allows users to unlock their car doors simply by walking up to the vehicle, or walking away to lock.
Escort Live –a SmartCord and app for Escort radar detectors creates a real-time ticket protection network.
