SoundMan Car Audio is hoping you will visit a new area of its web site, which it wants to become the “Facebook” of the car audio industry.
It’s a new social networking forum for anyone who enjoys car audio.
It went live Thursday with Internet features, articles by installation experts, car stereo news and live video.
SoundMan says it already has a high ranking on Google’s search engine and plans to use that status to let other retailers post videos and articles to win media attention.
The site permits instant messaging, and a “room” for live support so retailers may log in every morning and share information throughout the day, said SoundMan’s Doug Bernards.
Certain industry members may be approved as “authors” to post articles on the site. Award-winning installers Jon Webb of Performance Audio in Las Vegas and John Kowanetz of Handcrafted Car Audio, Mesa, AZ have already approved for posting.
“I’m hoping shops and reps see the value in making a profile. If someone Googles a shop or brand, they will see the shop owners profile on my site, which they can then get in touch with,” said Bernards.
SoundMan’s YouTube series “Amplified” has received over 4.6 million hits since it launched a year ago. Other YouTube videos on iPad installation have received millions of hits. The SoundMan web site currently receives about 24,000 unique views a month.
