The inventor of the first cellphone-controlled remote starters, Oliver Grunhold, is now CEO and a leading partner in the new car security start up Encore Automotive Systems.
He was formerly VP of engineering and operations at Auto Page and joins John Fernandez, another former Auto Page employee who is now Encore executive VP and part owner.
Encore has been actively selling a new line of 5 remote starter and security systems since July, and will offer 2 additional models shortly. The products use a new RF technology that offers 45 percent improved range.
“ Everyone whose tried it has reordered substantially,” said Grunhold who holds a patent on cellphone based vehicle control systems. The products focus on quality and aesthetics, he said.
A new cellphone-controlled remote start system is also “coming up,” said Grunhold.
“I just thought it was time in my life that I try something different….my future needed to be in my own hands rather than someone else’s,” he said.
