Car Audio buying/marketing group MESA (Mobile Electronics Specialists of America) is considering entering new areas in car electronics such as breathilizer-start technologies like Intoxalock and fleet devices for speed monitoring, as well as window tinting, and driver safety products such as those from Mobileye.
The company is holding a summit in September 11 through 13 in Denver, CO. to interview suppliers interested in becoming partners with the group as well as meeting with existing vendor partners to discuss renewing contracts, most of which expire on the first of the new year.
“We’re 27 members with 96 locations and $114 million in yearly sales. We expect to be 32 or 35 members by the end of the year and maybe add another 15 to 20 locations next year,” said executive director Ryan Gunter.
For a large vendor, a contract with the group can mean several million dollars in sales.
Gunter believes 45 to 50 members is “probably our sweet spot” for the cap on the type of specialists the group targets, usually those with $1.5 to $3 million in annual sales.
The group expects to produce two additional TV commercials promoting car electronics for its members by the end of the year.
MESA officially launched in April of 2010.
