The smartphone market will grow by almost 50 percent worldwide this year, which is four times faster than the overall mobile phone market, says IDC.
More than 450 million smartphones will ship in 2011 compared to the 303.4 million shipped in 2010, marking a 49.2 percent rise.
IDC also expects Nokia’s decision to adopt the Windows Phone 7 OS in its phones will make Windows the second most popular OS for phones behind Android by 2015.
